CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (WNCN) — Amid all the pomp and circumstance that is sure to come with Bill Belichick’s debut as the head coach of the North Carolina Tar Heels football team, another addition to the pregame festivities has been announced.
On Thursday, the program revealed that ESPN will host a special one-hour “College Football Countdown” live from the sidelines of Kenan Memorial Stadium on Labor Day before UNC takes on TCU.
The show, which will be hosted by Matt Barrie and feature analysts Tedy Bruschi, Desmond Howard, Pat McAfee and Nick Saban as well as ESPN college football insider Pete Thamel, will air from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Labor Day.
The game will kick off shortly after that and will also be broadcast on ESPN. Rece Davis and Kirk Herbstreit will call the Monday night primetime game, which will conclude Week 1 of the 2025 college football season.
Tickets to all UNC home games have already sold out for the season in anticipation of the Bill Belichick era in Chapel Hill, the football program announced Wednesday.
