CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (WNCN) — North Carolina and Oklahoma have split the first two games they’ve played in the 2025 Chapel Hill Regional, and now they’ll battle in a winner-take-all contest with a trip to next weekend’s Super Regionals on the line.
The Tar Heels (44-13) and Sooners (38-21) will face off once again at Boshamer Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. Ryan Lynch and Reid Hensley are set to start for UNC and Oklahoma, respectively.
On Sunday night, the Sooners defeated the host Tar Heels 9-5, handing the fifth-ranked team in the nation their first loss of the double-elimination regional to force a decisive game Monday. Gavin Gallaher had four RBI for UNC in the loss, including a solo home run. Oklahoma got homers from Dasan Harris, Drew Dickerson and Dawson Willis.
Earlier in the weekend, the Tar Heels topped the Sooners 11-5 on Saturday night. Ty Bass had a solo home run and Sam Angelo went yard twice — including a three-run blast — in that contest for the host team.
The winner will claim the 2025 Chapel Hill Regional title and advance to the Super Regional round of the NCAA DI baseball tournament. If UNC wins, they are in line to host next weekend.
