SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WNCN) — After a heartbreaking overtime loss last Saturday to then-No. 18 Virginia, North Carolina football is back on the road and are still looking for their first Atlantic Coast Conference win of the Bill Belichick era.
The Tar Heels (2-5 overall, 0-3 ACC) is in upstate New York to battle Syracuse (3-5, 1-4). Kick off at the JMA Wireless Dome is set for 7:30 p.m.
UNC came inches short of upsetting the Cavaliers last Saturday at home, missing out on a two-point conversion in overtime that would’ve given Belichick and the Tar Heels their first ACC win of the season. Quarterback Gio Lopez had his best game of the year so far, throwing for 208 yards and a touchdown while also running into the end zone for a score of his own.
The Orange, who earlier this year lost starting quarterback Steve Angeli for the season, are in the midst of a four-game losing streak of their own. Syracuse’s most recent game was a 41-16 defeat at then-No. 7 Georgia Tech last Saturday. In that game, Orange signal caller Rickie Collins threw for 224 yards and a touchdown.
The Tar Heels will next host Stanford next weekend. That game is scheduled to start late Saturday afternoon in Chapel Hill.
