CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (WNCN) — All eyes in the college football world are on Chapel Hill Monday night as Bill Belichick makes his debut as the head coach of the North Carolina Tar Heels.
The hype has been palpable in the days leading up to Labor Day, with students, alumni, fans and businesses going all in on this new chapter of Tar Heels football. On Monday, fans were out on Franklin Street and around campus decked out in Carolina Blue (with some TCU fans in purple scattered among them). Long dormant traditions, such as the players and coaches walking from the Old Well past the Bell Tower and into Kenan Stadium, have been revived for the occasion.
Now, the time has finally come to see if the Belichick era lives up to the pomp and circumstance that brought national media as well as representatives from major postseason bowls to Chapel Hill on opening night.
