CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Following the blowout loss UNC football suffered Monday night under the national spotlight, tickets to the game at UNC Charlotte this weekend are a little more affordable.
The high-profile game sold out quickly this summer when tickets were first available to season ticket holders. It’s not only is it the Tar Heels’ first visit to Jerry Richardson Stadium, but it’s also the second game in six-time Super Bowl-winning head coach Bill Belichick’s tenure.
That tenure got off to as rocky of a start as possible Monday night. After being given the red-carpet treatment by ESPN, UNC was blown out by TCU in Chapel Hill, 48-14.
Meanwhile, the Niners didn’t fare much better in week one, falling to App State Friday night, 34-11.
Because of the interest surrounding Belichick’s arrival inn Chapel Hill and the limited availability at the 15,000-seat on-campus stadium, the prices on the secondary market soared well into the $500 range and beyond.

On Seat Geek the most expensive seats aren’t in areas that usually reflect that. Prices now range from $119 (end zone, Row 8) to $610, behind the end zone, 19 rows up. There’s another for $533 at the 25-yard line, Row 13). This site doesn’t show the price trends.
This is the second game in a row for the 49ers where both head coaches are in new jobs. Four of North Carolina’s FBS programs fired their coaches last year, and former Wake Forest coach Dave Clawson resigned.
The game between the Tar Heels and Niners kicks off Saturday at 7 p.m.
