From one GOAT to another Deion Sanders had some high praise for South Carolina’s Dawn Staley after the Gamecocks capped their undefeated season with a national title on Sunday.
Taking to social media that night, the Hall of Famer turned college football coach said: “God Bless Coach @dawnstaley. You are our SHERO!!!! Love ya 2 Life sis.”
Staley’s run at South Carolina has been incredible to watch. After taking over the program in 2008, the former WNBA All-Star has amassed a 440-106 record with two championships in the last three years and four straight Final Four appearances.
Coach Prime wasn’t the only one to shout Staley out after her big win either.
Lakers superstar LeBron James also had a message for his 52.8 million followers on Twitter last night. Saying, “Protect Dawn Staley AT ALL COST!! No if, ands or buts!”
It was an emotional afternoon for Staley who broke down after her team was crowned winners of the NCAA Tournament. It was a long road from last season’s heartbreak in the national semifinal to cutting down the nets in 2024.
Now she’s stamped as one of the great college basketball coaches of her time and there’s still plenty of runway for more success.
