Three Schools Stand Out To No. 1 Overall Recruit Jerzy Robinson

Jerzy Robinson, the top recruit from the class of 2026, is eyeing three premier college basketball programs.

The sophomore can’t take visits yet, but Robinson told On3’s Talia Goodman that UConn, South Carolina, and LSU have her attention early in the process. Robinson explained what she desires from a college.

“Their offensive play style, how we’re doing in tournaments and coaching,” Robinson said. “Other players that are coming in, but also the support system and building me as a woman in this world. I want faithful people and a faithful organization.”

The 15-year-old guard, who signed with Nike earlier this year, transferred to Sierra Canyon High School in California. Robinson acknowledged the role NIL opportunities will play in the process.

“I think there’s many pros and cons to [NIL] at this point,” Robinson said. “It’s a little early on. I think like a lot of people say, keep the main thing the main thing and the NIL stuff will come. I’m not choosing a college solely based on NIL, but that’s obviously a very good benefit that I’m interested in. I want to make sure it’s 100% well-rounded.”

Robinson will play for the USA’s Women’s U17 national team after winning gold in last year’s FIBA Americas U16 Championship. At 14, she was the youngest player to ever win MVP.

A lot can change by the time Robinson enrolls, but she mentioned three understandable choices for a top recruit. Kim Mulkey led LSU to a 2023 national title, and Dawn Staley’s South Carolina Gamecocks won their third national championship in the last eight years.

Meanwhile, UConn’s Geno Auriemma went to his 23rd Final Four this year. He’s coached several WNBA superstars such as Sue Bird, Diana Taurasi, Maya Moore, and Breanna Stewart.
