Losing is nothing new for the Charlotte Hornets. They have a losing record in eight of the last nine seasons. Key players missed games due to injuries and no one could step up to take their places. We now know that they have little depth and that, right now, is the main problem.
Let’s do a little review and focus on how bright their future can be.
Miller’s Time
Brandon Miller grabbed our attention this year. The second-year forward really exploded as a scorer, leading the team in seven consecutive games back in December. Unfortunately, he only played 27 games before being sidelined with injuries for the rest of the season.

Mark’s Will
Mark Williams will be known as the player who was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers, but came back after failing a physical exam. Determined to put doubting minds to rest, Williams wanted us to see that he could still play. With his high-percentage shots, defense, and rebounding, we slowly realized how valuable he was.
Lee’s Upside
New head coach Charles Lee knows a lot about winning. He was, after all, an assistant coach for the Boston Celtics when they won it all last year. He was also an assistant on the Milwaukee Bucks team that won the title back in 2021. Expect Lee to lead a new and improved Hornets in the next few seasons.

LaMelo’s Trajectory
The reason why fans rush to the Spectrum Center in Charlotte is LaMelo Ball. His amazing plays — whether it’s an assist or a long three-pointer — are always on the highlight reels after each game. Fans love his “always looking to dazzle” attitude, and his aura always brings a buzz to the arena.
Surviving LeBron
When asking fans what their favorite win was last season, expect them to mention the game against the Lakers. The Hornets were on the road, Williams was facing the team that traded for him, and they came out with the close win. LeBron James had a chance to tie the game but missed two three-pointers in the last six seconds.
