Charlotte Hornets guard Josh Green is expected to make his season debut on Friday against the Chicago Bulls. He’s not listed on the team’s injury report, according to Rod Boone of the Charlotte Observer.
Josh Green Had Offseason Shoulder Surgery
Green, 25, underwent left shoulder surgery in June and has been rehabbing the injury since the procedure. The 6-foot-6 guard has made steady progress but was unable to participate in training camp.
The Hornets assigned Green to their G League affiliate, the Greensboro Swarm, in North Carolina last week for additional practice time and improving his conditioning.
In 68 games (67 starts) with Charlotte last season, Green averaged 7.4 points, 2.5 rebounds, 1.6 assists, and career highs of 1.1 steals and 27.8 minutes per outing.
The Arizona product also shot a career-low 42.8% from the field and 39.1% from deep.
Josh Green is no longer listed on the Charlotte Hornets’ injury report for tomorrow’s game against the Chicago Bulls.

Green spent his first four seasons with the Dallas Mavericks, who selected him 18th overall in the 2020 draft. He averaged 6.4 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 1.5 assists in four seasons with the team.
According to Basketball Reference, Green averaged a career-high 9.1 points per game with a shooting line of 53.7/40.2/72.3 with the Mavs in 2022-23. All three shooting marks remain his career bests.
Per Spotrac, Green is in the second season of a three-year, $41 million contract. He’s earning $13.66 million this season and is slated to make $14.67 million in 2026-27.
Other Hornets Players Sidelined With Injuries
Green is returning to a Hornets’ backcourt that has been decimated by injuries.
LaMelo Ball (left ankle bone bruise), Tre Mann (right knee bone bruise), and Collin Sexton (left quad strain) are listed as out for Friday’s game.
Boone noted that Ball exited early in the second half of Charlotte’s 111-86 road win over the Toronto Raptors on Friday night after injuring his left ankle and didn’t suit up in the team’s loss to the Denver Nuggets on Sunday.
Mann also won’t be available for the fifth straight game, while Sexton is set to miss his third consecutive outing. Grant Williams (right knee) also remains out, and Moussa Diabate (right knee soreness) is questionable.
The Hornets will visit the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday after facing the Bulls on Friday.
