ARDEN, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — New Hornets big man Mason Plumlee has donated $20,000 to ReGroup Western North Carolina, the Christ School announced on Wednesday, June 25.
ReGroup Western North Carolina is an organization that’s helping restore homes and provide essentials as families continue to rebuild after Hurricane Helene.
Plumlee, a 2009 graduate of Christ School, presented the check to ReGroup WNC at the end of his third annual basketball camp at the Asheville-area school on Wednesday. This year, it had 130 campers after having 50 in its inaugural year in 2023.
While at Christ School, Plumlee led the team to state basketball championships in three straight seasons.
According to the school, he has the longest professional basketball career for any WNC high school graduate, and he is believed to be the only current NBA player who runs an overnight camp for youth.
