NBA Best Bets: October 20th, 2021

November 26, 2023 by Prime Time Sports Talk

Night two of the NBA season provides another opportunity for NBA best bets. After going 2-1 in the season opening double header it is time to keep things rolling. We have an 11 game slate on this Wednesday night with a ton for fans to be excited about.

From the debut of the new look Chicago Bulls to the career debuts for exciting prospects like Evan Mobley and Jalen Green, there is something for everyone tonight. If making a little money on the side while enjoying the on court action is up your alley, these are picks worth considering.

Chicago Bulls -4.5 (-110) vs Detroit Pistons

The earlier you bet this line, the better. The Bulls seem to have some people confused on who they are, which has left this writer quite confused as a result. While the Pistons are going to be a better team than many expect this season, the Bulls are going to be much better and will be playing with a point to prove early in the season.

Former Los Angeles Lakers Lonzo Ball and Alex Caruso are going to bring a defensive presence this team has long lacked. it will give fits to inexperienced backcourts like the Pistons have. Cade Cunningham will have to deal with either of the listed guards or Patrick Williams for much of his NBA debut. Good luck, rook.

Expect the Bulls to come out with a point to prove early and run away with things by halftime. From there, they should be able to enter cruise control behind veterans like DeMar DeRozan, Nikola Vucevic and of course, the face of the franchise, Zach LaVine.

Patrick Williams Under 9.5 Points (-120)

Another play on the same Bulls team comes in the form of second year forward Patrick Williams. While Williams is someone who is a lock to improve his performance from one season ago, don’t bank on that happening from day one of the new season.

There are a lot of new faces with mouths to feed in Chicago. Williams simply is not assertive enough to make his presence felt on offense early this season. It will eventually happen, but most likely when others start pressuring him to be more assertive.

Charlotte Hornets vs Indiana Pacers Under 224 (-110)

The Hornets will score a lot of points this season and that will have most riding their overs. It is not time for that, yet. As they play the already banged up Pacers and work on getting into a rhythm as an undersized team they will struggle to put up the big numbers if jump shots are not falling early. Expect them to be a top ten offensive unit this season but that won’t start formulating until later in the season.

Karl Anthony-Towns Over 11.5 Rebounds (-106) vs Houston Rockets

The Minnesota Timberwolves are filled with questions entering the season. One thing that is not a question is how talented their face of the franchise, Anthony-Towns, is as a player. Facing the not so good Rockets, who are not great in the front court especially, Towns should have no problem eating on the glass in this one. His rebounding over is my favorite individual play on the night.

Oklahoma City Thunder +13 (-110) vs Utah Jazz

The Thunder are not a great team and the Jazz are, admittedly. The Thunder are not as bad as many would say entering the season, though. They are going to play hard and most nights they have a chance to cover a large spread like this one. I fully expect the Thunder to keep this one around 10 points at the final buzzer and you should too.

Remember, it is young players that will show up the most hyped for a season opener. The Thunder are the much younger team. They are also talented when at full strength and may have a chip on their shoulder to start the NBA season.
