February means only two things to NBA aficionados: the trade deadline and the All-Star Weekend. With the trade deadline over, all eyes will now focus on the All-Star activities in Utah. Fans will be rubbing elbows with each other as they enjoy the dunk contest, three-point shoot-out, and the 72nd All-Star Game. However, there are still four game days before the mid-season break. These are the top NBA games in that 4-day span.
Feb. 13: Charlotte Hornets vs. Atlanta Hawks
LaMelo Ball versus Trae Young. Every time one of these players steps on the court, something highlight-worthy is going to happen. The same can be said for the other guy. That is why this game is a “must-see” for everyone. Scoring and amazing passes will be on display. Both players know how to brag, play with the crowd, and are not afraid to say whatever they want.
Feb. 13: New York Knicks vs. Brooklyn Nets
Cam Thomas unleashed. This will be one of the best stories of the year in the NBA. A player who was stuck on the bench finally got some playing time and went on to score multiple 40-point games. Those games were held in the comforts of Philadelphia’s home arena, which makes this matchup against the Knicks intriguing. Thomas will be playing in Madison Square Garden in his first road game since Kyrie Irving requested a trade.
Feb. 14: Milwaukee Bucks vs. Boston Celtics
They are the top 2 teams in the East. That alone should be the reason why this becomes the game of the day. Giannis Antetokounmpo on one side. Jayson Tatum, on the other. Tatum and Jaylen Brown combined for 70 points in the first meeting, and you can bet that the Bucks do not want to see that happening again. So look for the Bucks to take advantage if Brown remains out with a facial injury.
Feb. 15: Denver Nuggets vs. Dallas Mavericks
Stories about Kyrie Irving have been inescapable this season because of his on-court and off-court incidents. So even if you do not root for the guy, you know you are going to hear about him from the media. Now he will face another formidable opponent, the Nuggets, since joining the Mavericks. The Luka Doncic and Irving tandem going against Nikola Jokic should be an entertaining battle.
Feb. 15: Los Angeles Lakers vs. New Orleans Pelicans
The wounded Pelicans were on a 10-game losing streak when they faced the Lakers less than two weeks ago. So fans were expecting the Pelicans to fold and not put up a fight, right? Well, the Lakers somehow found a way to lose. It was a close game in the fourth quarter, but Brandon Ingram’s 35-point effort saved the day. The Lakers will not forget that when they play again.
