To begin the 2025-26 season, the Hornets are 4-13. Charlotte has lost six consecutive games and is 1-9 in their last 10. It’s been a struggle to win consistently early in the year.
One bright spot for the Hornets this season has been their rookies. Especially the fourth overall pick, Kon Knueppel out of Duke. The 20-year-old is averaging 19.4 points per game for Charlotte this season. Additionally, he is shooting .438% from beyond the arc. On Tuesday, NBC’s Reggie Miller went on the Dan Patrick Show. Miller believes rookie Kon Knueppel could one day threaten Steph Curry’s three-point crown.

With the fourth overall pick in the 2025 NBA draft, the Hornets selected Kon Knueppel out of Duke. He’s played in all 17 games this season and made 16 starts. His 19.4 points per game as a rookie are third on the team behind LaMelo Ball and Miles Bridges. The 20-year-old is averaging .438% on his three-pointers in 2025-25. Knueppel is taking 8.5 threes per game. Over 60% of his field goal attempts are from beyond the arc.
That is why NBC’s Reggie Miller had a hot take on the Dan Patrick Show. The Hall of Famer believes rookie Kon Knueppel could one day threaten Steph Curry’s three-point crown. However, Miller said there is one caveat. Steph Curry is in his 17th professional season and continues to add to his three-point record.

Miller told Dan Patrick that Kon Knueppel would have to play at least 15 years to even come close to Curry. On top of that, Golden State’s PG has stayed relatively healthy throughout his career. Kon Knueppel would need to do the same. Reggie Miller did mention that Knueppel is shooting more three-pointers per game than Curry was early in his career. That’s partially why Miller thinks Knueppel could one day threaten Steph Curry’s three-point record.
The 37-year-old is still an active player and continues to add to his record with each game. As of Wednesday, November 26, Curry has 4,131 made three-pointers. As a rookie, Steph Curry averaged 4.8 three-pointers attempted per game. As a rookie in 2025-25, Kon Knueppel is averaging 8.5 three-pointers attempted per game. If he can continue that pace, stay healthy, and play a lengthy career, Reggie Miller believes Kon Knueppel could one day hold the NBA’s three-point crown.
