The Phoenix Suns have agreed to acquire Cody Martin, Vasilije Micic and a 2026 second round pick from the Charlotte Hornets for Jusuf Nurkic and a 2026 first round pick.
Nurkic has been out of the Suns’ rotation for several weeks as they have attempted to trade him. Nurkic is owed $19.4 million next season. Phoenix recently converted their 2031 first round pick into three first round picks, which made this trade possible.
Martin is averaging 7.8 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 24.8 minutes across 39 games this season for the Hornets. Martin is a career 31.9 percent three-point shooter. Martin is signed through 25-26, but his contract is non-guaranteed.
Micic has appeared in 36 games this season with the Hornets and is averaging 7.5 points, 2.4 rebounds and 3.5 assists in 21.2 minutes. The Suns will inherit a team option on Micic for 25-26.
The Suns could potentially get below the second apron next season if they part ways with Martin and Micic in the offseason.
