Carolina rests several starters in their regular season final as they drop one in Columbus.
The Carolina Hurricanes’ five game winning streak came to an end last night as they fell to the Columbus Blue Jackets, 6-3.
Spencer Martin had a rough night in goal and the defense was unsteady in front of him. In all, he made 19 saves on 25 shots for the night.
Newly signed and highly regarded youngsters Bradly Nadeau and Jackson Blake made their NHL debuts in the game. Neither of them dented the scoresheet but they did manage some shots on goal.
Teuvo Teravainen had his shot working and he scored twice with some nicely placed rips. He came close to notching another hat trick when he hit the post during a powerplay later in the game.
Jesperi Kotkaniemi had a good game with a goal and an assist.
The Canes outshot the home team 41-25 and were led by Martin Necas with seven.
Next up will be game one in the Stanley Cup playoffs as the team prepares the rest of the week for the New York Islanders.
