Canadiens @ Hurricanes: Preview and Game Thread

March 28, 2025 by Canes Country

NHL: MAR 25 Predators at Hurricanes
RALEIGH, NC – MARCH 25: Carolina Hurricanes center Sebastian Aho (20) re-tapes his stick prior to the start of the third period during the NHL game between the Nashville Predators and the Carolina Hurricanes on March 25, 2025 at Lenovo Center in Raleigh, North Carolina. | Photo by Katherine Gawlik/Icon Sportswire via Getty Images

Both teams looking for rebound win

The Carolina Hurricanes (43-24-4) face the Montreal Canadiens (33-29-9) in a key matchup for both teams tonight at the Lenovo Center.

Both teams are coming off loses in their last game. The Canes dropped one to the Nashville Predators, 3-1 while the Habs lost to the Flyers, 6-4.

Carolina has lost two of their last three, but they are an impressive, 8-2-0 in their last 10 games.

The Canadiens are 3-3-4 in their last 10.

Some good news for Carolina?

Look for Andrei Svechnikov to return to action. The winger was playing on the fourth line in practice yesterday, but Brind’Amour said post-practice that he will be moved around, depending upon how he looks.

It is Frederik Andersen’s turn to be in net, so look for him to start. Andersen has won five starts in a row.

Taylor Hall is red hot for the Canes. He has four goals in his last two games.

Jakub Dobes took the loss in Philadelphia for Montreal last night. I would look for Sam Montembeault to start for Montreal.

The Habs are still fighting for a wildcard playoff spot and should be a hungry team.

Game time is 7 P.M. Eastern and the match will be televised by FanDuel Sports Network South.
