RALEIGH, N.C. (CAROLINA SPORTS LIVE) — The Carolina Hurricanes revealed new away jerseys for their upcoming season, which pay homage to the team’s Stadium Series game against the Washington Capitals in 2023.
In that game, their jerseys were black and red, not white. The ‘Canes are keeping the logo black and red, but it’s white to stick with the NHL standard that away teams usually wear a lighter color than the home teams.
“The two-tone red and black logo is a fantastic tweak to our primary logo,” Hurricanes President Doug Warf said. “We all liked this mark on the Stadium Series uniform set, but I think it truly jumps off the white jersey as the pop of contrast is beautifully eye-catching.”
The previous white away jerseys had “CANES” diagonally. Nothing was wrong with that jersey, but the team felt it had run its course, as with older jerseys in the past. “We all enjoyed our previous road uniform set, but felt this was a great season for a change,” said Warf. “This is the fourth major redesign to the road jersey in team history, with the two previous sets each lasting six years [as well].”
For the first time, the Hurricanes’ vintage mascot, “Stormy,” will be displayed on a jersey. For a few years, Stormy has been on other apparel such as hats and shirts, but now he finally gets his appearance on a jersey.

“I also love ‘Strutting Stormy.’ I will be honest, before rejoining the team [in 2024], I was like most of our fans – constantly asking for this mark to be used more. It’s the perfect homage to our collegiate culture with a mark that is uniquely ours inside the NHL,” Warf said.
The team says the new sweaters and related merchandise are now available at the pro shop and online at CarolinaProShop.com.
