RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — The Carolina Hurricanes managed to keep their season alive with a 3-0 win against the Florida Panthers in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Final.
The victory in Sunrise, Fla. marked the Hurricanes’ first Eastern Conference Final win since their Stanley Cup championship season in 2006. Their last three appearances ended in sweeps, including their previous Eastern Conference Final series against the Panthers in 2023.
Forward Logan Stankoven’s goal in the second period marked the Hurricanes’ first lead of the series. They maintained their lead for the rest of the game, with Sebastian Aho and Jordan Staal scoring empty net goals in the third to secure the win.
With their road victory, the Hurricanes cut their 3-0 series deficit against the defending Stanley Cup champions to 3-1. They will return to the Lenovo Center on Wednesday for Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Final.
Only four NHL teams have overcome a 3-0 playoff series deficit. The most recent was the Los Angeles Kings in 2014.
