MORRISVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) – The Carolina Hurricanes’ newest additions certainly passed the “eye” test during the first day of training camp at Invisalign Arena on Thursday.
Forward Nikolaj Ehlers and defenseman K’Andre Miller are the Hurricanes’ key offseason acquisitions heading into the 2025-26 season. Ehlers spent 10 successful seasons with the Winnipeg Jets, and now he gets the chance to take on an even bigger role with the Canes.
“I like the competition and talent they have on this team – they’ve been in the top for many years now,” Ehlers said. “It’s a young group that you can see fits together and gels well together, and that’s something I’m looking forward to being a part of.”
Miller is also excited to now call Raleigh home. The Triangle lights are not nearly as bright as the white hot spotlight of the Big Apple. Miller had five solid seasons with the New York Rangers, but he never seemed to satisfy their fans. He’ll get a fresh start with Carolina.
“Throughout my five years there, I had a lot of doubters, I had a lot of people voicing their opinion about my game,” Miller said. “I’m excited to use that as fuel. I had a tough summer in the gym, and I’m using that as motivation and doing whatever I can to get ready for this upcoming season.”
With Miller and Ehlers added to the mix, the upcoming season could be a special one for the Hurricanes.
