SUNRISE, Fla. (WNCN) — It’s do or die for the Carolina Hurricanes on Monday night.
The Canes find themselves down 3-0 to the defending champion Florida Panthers in the 2025 NHL Eastern Conference Final going Monday night’s Game 4 and will have to find a way to win on the opponent’s home ice in order to keep their season alive. Puck drop at Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise is scheduled for 8 p.m.
Carolina was dominated in the first two games of the series, losing the first contest in Raleigh by a score of 5-2 and then getting shut out 5-0 in Game 2. They played better to start Game 3 Saturday night, when the teams entered the final period tied at 1-1.
But then Florida turned its offense on again, scoring five goals in a span of nine minutes in the period to deflate the Hurricanes and put the game well out of hand. The Panthers ended up winning the game 6-2 to put Carolina on the brink of elimination.
If Florida wins, they will have swept the Canes in the Eastern Conference Final for the second straight year. If Carolina wins, Game 5 will be Wednesday night in Raleigh.
