Carolina comes out flat again for third loss in a row.
The Buffalo Sabres defeated the Carolina Hurricanes, 3-0 on Tuesday night in Buffalo. It was Carolina’s third loss in a row, all on the road.
As a matter of fact, it has been the road trip from hell for the Canes as they have been outscored, 13-4 in those three games.
Coach Brind’Amour admitted that his team has not played the same as they did when they clinched a playoff spot last week.
We’ve taken a little breather here since we’ve got in [to the playoffs], you can feel it. I don’t want to say it’s kind of expected, but we’ve got to snap out of it here quick.”
The question is, is this team good enough to turn on and off their intensity like a spigot? We will find out.
After a scoreless first period, early in the second Tage Thompson took a loose puck at the Carolina blueline and scored an unassisted goal, his 44th of the season.
Later in the period, Alex Tuch scored shorthanded, which indicates how the Carolina powerplay was performing for the night.
The Sabres would add another one in the third to close things out. It was the fifth win in a row for Buffalo.
The Canes travel to Washington to take on the Caps on Thursday night.
