RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — After the Carolina Hurricanes’ series-clinching win over the Washington Capitals Thursday night, they’re moving on to the Eastern Conference Final for the second time in three years.
Tickets for the next series are now on sale, though the Canes still don’t know who their opponent will be or when and where the games will be played.
Carolina awaits the winner of the series between the Toronto Maple Leafs and defending Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers. While the Canes won their Eastern Conference semifinal in five games, the other semifinal is going the distance.
With the Panthers up 3-2 in the series, the Maple Leafs won Game 6 by a score of 2-0 Friday night in south Florida to force a winner-take-all Game 7. That game will be played Sunday at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto.
If the Maple Leafs win, they’ll host the first two games of the Eastern Conference Final. If the Panthers advance, the Hurricanes would have home ice to begin the series.
The Canes are a perfect 5-0 at the Lenovo Center so far this postseason.
