2025 Season Opener Countdown: 66 Days to Go

We’re counting down the days until the Panthers open up the 2025 season!

In this series, we’ll be counting down until opening kickoff by running through the Panthers roster by jersey number. Today’s piece looks at the current and historical players to have ever donned No. 66 for the Carolina Panthers.

Current Player: Steven Losoya

Losoya (6’3”, 325 lbs) is an interior offensive lineman who started his collegiate career at Middle Tennessee State. He saw limited action as a true freshman in 2019 and really burst on the scene as a starter for Middle Tennessee in the 2021 season. He parlayed that strong redshirt sophomore year into a transfer to Mississippi State, where he spent two seasons. His pass protection for the Bulldogs was especially noteworthy, as he only allowed two sacks his junior season in 2022 and did not allow a sack and conceded just one QB hit while committing just three penalties during 2023 season. Losoya then used his COVID sixth year of eligibility to transfer to Vanderbilt. He started a few games at center before moving over to right guard. Losoya went undrafted following the 2025 NFL Draft and signed with the Panthers as an undrafted free agent.

Losoya is another depth piece on the offensive line whose best case scenario is likely a spot on the practice squad. Because Carolina’s offensive line has returned all the starters and most depth pieces from last year’s squad, it’s an uphill battle to make the active roster.

Notable Previous Players to Wear Number 66: Nash Jensen, Amini Silatolu, Matt Campbell

The most recent Panther to wear 66 was Nash Jensen in 2003. Amini Silatolu was a notable name not because of his performance on the field. Quite the opposite, in fact, as our former boss here at CSR used to lovingly refer to him as “Not Alshon Jeffrey,” whom the Panthers could have drafted in 2013 but chose Silatolu instead .

Matt Campbell was the first and most successful number 66 in Panthers history. Fun fact: he joined the team in 1995 as a tight end sporting number 87. He then moved to the offensive line (mostly guard) and switched to 66. When healthy, he was the main starter at left guard for the Panthers from 1996 to 2000.
