We’re counting down the days until the Panthers open up the 2025 season!
There are 72 days left between us and kickoff the 2025 season for the Carolina Panthers. That means today’s post is about Taylor Moton, starting right tackle and number 72 for the black and blue.
Moton probably hasn’t gotten enough flowers for the consistent presence he’s brought to the right side of the Panthers offensive line for the last eight years. The Panthers made him a second round pick in 2017. After a year on the sidelines to learn the ropes, Moton was plugged in at right tackle, and the Panthers have barely had to think about the position since. While not an All Pro or anything, he’s plenty good enough that you don’t need to look to upgrade the position, and prior to this past season, he hadn’t missed a game. In fact, from the time he took over as starting right tackle in 2018, Moton played every Panthers offensive snap until an arm injury forced him out of a couple of games last season. He played 104 straight games and 6,758 straight snaps.
Moton will continue to hold down his spot on the right end of the line in 2025 as the offense tries to ascend to one of the good units in the league. If history is any indicator, the Panthers are in good hands there. When all is said and done, he’ll be the greatest Panthers to ever don the 72 jersey, just narrowly edging out second place—Bruce Nelson, who wore the number in his lone NFL season in 2003.
