We’re continuing our countdown to the start of the Panthers regular season!
Hello CSR! We’re 82 days away from the start of the regular season for the Carolina Panthers! To celebrate another day off the count, we’re highlighting number 82 for the team; tight end Tommy Tremble!
Tremble arrived in Carolina as the 83rd overall pick in the 3rd round of the 2021 NFL Draft, hailing from Notre Dame. The former Irishman was praised by scouts for his athleticism and blocking ability, with a ton of room as a receiver. He ended up starting 11 games as a rookie for Matt Rhule, and has since played in 61 total games in 4 seasons, catching 85 passes for 782 yards and 9 touchdowns in that span. However, he failed to crack 200 yards receiving in any of his first three seasons, but seemingly took a step forward in 2024 with a career high 243 receiving yards despite playing a career low 12 games due to injury.
Going into 2025, Tremble was set to be a free agent, however Carolina chose to re-sign him to a 2 year $10.5 million deal. While the contract wasn’t bad from a team spending perspective, it definitely felt like a nice reward for a consistent contributor that appears to be on the upswing. Despite entering the 5th year of his NFL career, Tremble is only 25 years old. While the Panthers did choose to add fellow former Irishman Mitchell Evans in the 5th round of this year’s draft, they clearly expect Tremble to be a big factor alongside Ja’Tavion Sanders, a 4th round pick in 2024. Instead of spending top dollar on upgrading the tight end room, the Panthers are choosing to bank on developing their 3 young players as Bryce Young’s security blankets on the interior.
