We’re counting down the days until the Panthers open up the 2025 season!
We are a mere 93 days away from the start of the regular season for the Carolina Panthers. With that in mind, we take time to look at the guy wearing number 93 for the Panthers, defensive tackle LaBryan Ray.
Ray spent five injury riddled seasons as a rotational defensive lineman at Alabama. He went undrafted after his collegiate career but did enough to latch onto the Patriots practice squad for the 2023 season. After being released in the following offseason, he signed on with the USFL’s Philadelphia Stars with whom he registered three sacks in seven games. He signed with the Panthers for camp and has been with the organization since then.
In two seasons with the Panthers, Ray has 60 total tackles and one sack that came in the Panthers dismantling of the Raiders in Week 3 of last season.
Ray will be competing for a roster spot, but it’s going to be tough sledding with the new additions the Panthers have made to the group. Pro Football Focus gave Ray one of the lowest grades among all interior defensive linemen as he played more than half the snaps on a historically bad defense. Tershawn Wharton and Bobby Brown III have entered the fray, which leaves only a couple spots for depth in the rotation.
