5-Star USC Commit And Son Of Gilbert Arenas, Alijah Arenas, In Coma After Serious Car Accident

Alijah Arenas, a highly touted 5-star basketball recruit and son of former NBA All-Star Gilbert Arenas, is in a medically induced coma following a severe car accident.

The accident occurred early Thursday morning, and Arenas was immediately hospitalized due to serious injuries.

ESPN’s Shams Charania confirmed the news on social media.

Arenas, 18, is one of the top prospects in college basketball, having committed to USC earlier this year.

Initially part of the class of 2026, he reclassified to 2025, solidifying his position as a standout talent.

He chose USC over offers from prestigious programs like Kentucky, Kansas, and Arizona.

The Oakland native made a significant impact during his high school career at Chatsworth High School in Los Angeles, earning a spot in the 2025 McDonald’s All-American Game.

Known for his scoring prowess, Arenas is viewed as a key piece for the future of USC basketball.
