After a shocking TikTok video, it looks like former Washington Commanders quarterback Robert Griffin is eyeing an NFL Comeback. This return would probably send shockwaves across the league since no one has seen the quarterback start since 2012, when he had an enormous rookie season, recording the league records for the highest rookie passer rating and touchdown-interception ratio while leading the Commaanders to their first divisional title since 1999. Griffin won’t return to the Commanders since they’ve got their guy in Jayden Daniels for the longevity of their offense. However, there’s a good chance that there are other teams out there that will probably take a shot on the quarterback and even as a potential starter.
Originally selected as the No. 1, the quarterback was looking promising during his first NFL season, but injuries caught up to him, especially in the wild-card round against the Seattle Seahawks, where he was wearing a knee brace. Unfortunately, Griffin wasn’t the same player he once was coming out of Baylor for the next two campaigns in Washington, and lost his starting job to former Commander Kirk Cousins. The quarterback spent one season with the Cleveland Browns and was the Baltimore Ravens’ backup for the next three campaigns. It’s hard to imagine the quarterback has the same throwing arm, but this return could excite these five teams that may pursue interest.

Possible Fits
New Orleans Saints
It’s been an atrocious offseason for the New Orleans Saints. Inexperienced Tyler Shough and Spencer Rattler will have to battle it out for the starting job, which is a huge blow for head coach Kellen Moore’s first season taking over the organization. Without an adequate quarterback, the Saints won’t be postseason contenders, but if they bring back Griffin for at least two years, this could change the trajectory of this upcoming campaign.
Carolina Panthers
Meanwhile, there is a lot of faith going around for quarterback Bryce Young this offseason after enduring two back-to-back years of unproductivity. While Head Coach Dave Canales wants to keep Young as their signal-caller for the future, it doesn’t mean he won’t bench him again if there’s a lack of uncertainty in his abilities. Young has no excuse since he has the right weapons in Xavier Legette, Jalen Coker, Adam Thielen and Tetairoa McMillian, so if he doesn’t perform up to standards, expect him to ride the bench. If the Panthers endure another losing season, the team could call up RG3 to possibly save this roster.
Baltimore Ravens
Griffin has been here before as a backup, so this is a no-brainer destination for him. Despite signing Cooper Rush to be their incoming backup behind quarterback Lamar Jackson, the team could use another backup if he fails to thrive in this system. Griffin is obviously the better fit in this organization and wouldn’t have a hard time adjusting back.
Atlanta Falcons
However, it’s been a messy quarterback situation for the Falcons since the Matt Ryan era. They thought Kirk Cousins was going to lead this roster by storm for a few years before handing it off to a rookie. However, they drafted Michael Penix Jr. in the same offseason, which made things a lot complicated. Griffin won’t start, but he could serve as a mentor for Penix Jr. if he can’t perform the way the Falcons want him to.
Los Angeles Rams
Despite signing Matthew Stafford back on another contract, there’s not enough time left for him in this league. He’s one of the oldest quarterbacks in the NFL, so don’t be surprised if he retires in the next two seasons. Griffin could take over this roster for at least two seasons and cap off his career in Los Angeles.
