The Minnesota Vikings will lose their top wide receiver, Jordan Addison, for a couple of games due to a suspension, but this could signal a reunion with Adam Thielen this season. According to the breaking news, the Vikings’ aerial attack will take a hit for at least a few weeks, while Addison will miss a few games as his DUI case recently wrapped up. It might make sense for the Vikings to reunite with an old friend in this situation since Thielen has already been teasing that he will retire sooner rather than later. Minnesota might as well give him one more run before he hangs up his cleats after spending the majority of his career with the Vikings.
Originally selected as an undrafted rookie in 2013, the former Minnesota State product could be a reliable set of hands for quarterback JJ McCarthy’s development. If the Carolina Panthers could get some draft compensation in return, they might consider it since they already have a deep group of promising receivers like Xavier Legette, Jalen Coker and 2025 draft pick Tetairoa McMillian. For now, Jalen Nailor will become the presumptive No. 2 receiver for Minnesota’s offense, but someone like Thielen could be a better option. The veteran is past his prime, but he has at least two more years left in the tank to help McCarthy.

Other Possible Fits
Kansas City Chiefs
The Kansas City Chiefs will lose Rashee Rice as well for a couple of games, so they should be on the hunt for a solid veteran to help quarterback Patrick Mahomes in the aerial attack. Xavier Worthy and Marquise Brown alone might not be enough to keep Mahomes afloat, but given that Thielen was interested in joining the Chiefs, this move might make sense. Thielen has the numbers and Pro Bowls to show he’s a powerful weapon, but he’s missing a ring, and the Chiefs could help him achieve it before retirement.
Washington Commanders
Meanwhile, the Washington Commanders’ wide receiver room looks wide open for any weapon to emerge on the depth chart. The team is working on a negotiation with Terry McLaurin, but they must assume they’re going to be without him for precautionary purposes. If they want to continue to support Jayden Daniels, they should trade for Thielen to pair with Deebo Samuel and Luke McCaffrey as a solid group this upcoming season.
Los Angeles Chargers
Despite bringing back Keenan Allen, it’s more nostalgia rather than improvement for Justin Herbert’s offense. They need a fresh veteran to help youngsters like Ladd McConkey, KeAndre Lambert-Smith and Tre Harris. Allen is washed up, and Thielen is arguably a better versatile weapon in Herbert’s throwing arm, and they could mesh well as far as chemistry.
Baltimore Ravens
Just because they got DeAndre Hopkins this offseason, it doesn’t mean they can’t get another offensive weapon. They should take advantage of having an explosive offense before Lamar Jackson gets older. Zay Flowers and Rashod Bateman won’t receive fewer snaps, but Thielen could pair with Hopkins in the background for the playoff experience that they have.
