The Carolina Panthers are calling up the reserve troops.
With starting cornerback Jaycee Horn (concussion) and safety Tre’von Moehrig (suspension) out for Sunday’s matchup against the Los Angeles Rams at Bank of America Stadium, the Panthers activated linebacker/safety Isaiah Simmons and cornerback Kalen King.
Simmons, a 2020 first-round draft pick, joined the Panthers in time for Wednesday’s practice. He was seen talking with coach Dave Canales at times during the short-week walkthrough.
Simmons has appeared in 84 NFl games, collecting 305 tackles (208 solo), 21 passes defended, 8.5 sacks and five interceptions, with two returned for touchdowns. The former Clemson standout has not dressed for an NFL game this season.
Panthers coach Dave Canales said Wednesday defensive coordinator he could play a hybrid linebacker/safety role.
A 2024 seventh-round draft pick of the Green Bay Packers, King has served as a member of the Panthers’ practice squad since Aug. 28. King will dress for an NFL game for the second time in his career. The Packers elevated King for Week 14 last season, but King did not record a snap.

The Panthers also expect to get back starting linebacker Trevin Wallace, who injured his shoulder in Week 10. He’s eager to get back into the lineup.
“They really had to protect me from myself because I was telling them straight up, like I can go out there, shoulder, no shoulder, amputate it off, so I can go out there and play with one arm,” Wallace told Panthers.com.

Carolina Panthers Rolling With Another OL Unit
The Panthers (6-6) are prepping to field their 10th different offensive line combination versus the Rams (9-2), the NFC’s top club.
With right guard Chandler Zavala going on injured reserve, Jake Curhan is slated to get his first start with the Panthers. Curhan took over for Zavala after he injured his calf during Monday night’s loss to the San Francisco 49ers. Making his second trip to IR, Zavala joins offensive linemen Robert Hunt (torn biceps, Austin Corbett (knee) and Brady Christensen (Achilles) on the sideline.
“He’s really smart,” offensive coordinator Brad Idzik said during his Wednesday press conference. “He does a really good job of picking things up on the fly.”
