CHARLOTTE (CHARLOTTE SPORTS LIVE) — The Panthers have released linebacker Jadeveon Clowney, according to a league source who spoke with Charlotte Sports Live on Thursday.
Clowney, a Rock Hill native and former South Carolina Gamecock, joined the Panthers in 2024 after a standout season with the Baltimore Ravens.
The former No. 1 overall pick in the 2014 NFL Draft has long been known for his explosiveness, clocking a 4.53 in the 40-yard dash, and disruptive play on the edge.
Clowney was one of several transactions the Panthers made on Thursday. The club also placed Jonathon Brooks on the physically unable to perform list. The running back tore his ACL during Week 14 last season.
By placing the second year back on PUP now, he will be out for the 2025 season. The move allows him time to get healthy after his second such tear in as many years.

The roster currently sits at 62 players. Sources told Charlotte Sports Live more cuts could be coming.
