Charlotte FC will open its third season of Major League Soccer at Bank of America Stadium on Saturday, February 24th facing New York City FC.
Major League Soccer released its schedule Wednesday afternoon featuring two new trips for Charlotte, along with two new Western Conference opponents. Charlotte hosted Austin FC & the Vancouver Whitecaps in their inaugural seasons, and will now play return matches on the road at both venues. CLTFC will also welcome Minnesota United FC & Portland Timbers in their first ever regular season fixtures against the pair.
Schedule highlights include a Sunday, June 2nd matchup with Atlanta United, slated for a nationally-televised kickoff on FOX at 4:30 PM. Charlotte will have one other nationally televised game on linear TV, when it plays on the road at Orlando City SC on September 18th, both on FS1. Charlotte FC will also welcome Inter Miami around Independence Day, with a Wednesday, July 3rd tilt at BofA. Lionel Messi will likely not feature in the contest, because of his commitment to the Argentina National Team in Copa America.
Following a three-game road stretch after the season opener, Charlotte FC will return home to see the defending champions, Columbus Crew, who The Crown defeated at Bank of America Stadium last year.
Charlotte’s close to the season features three home matches in their last five, facing New England, Chicago & Montreal at home with a trip to Miami sandwiched in between. The Crown will play on the road on Decision Day for the regular season finale at DC United.
Sports Radio 92.7 WFNZ returns for its third season as the flagship station of the Charlotte FC Radio Network, with pregame coverage beginning 30 minutes before each match.
