It didn’t take long for the Carolina Panthers to host their first training camp fight of 2025. A second-year linebacker took Chuba Hubbard to the ground as the 26-year-old took offense to it.
Last season, Hubbard surpassed 1,000 rushing yards for the first time in his career. His 10 touchdowns were two less than he had in his first three seasons combined. As a key part of this offense, the 22-year-old LB may have messed with the wrong man.
Chuba Hubbard Takes Swing at Trevin Wallace After Being Knocked to the Ground
Trevin Wallace is poised for an increased workload after the team released Josey Jewell. Lingering concussions symptoms held back Jewell’s career. Knowing his status, the Panthers knew it was time to move on.
With Wallace in their back pocket, they felt confident in their linebacker room. It’s one that head coach Dave Canales spoke highly of. An emerging candidate has been named as a darkhorse for this season, but Wallace’s presence is going to be felt.
So far in training camp, things have been tame. The Panthers know they aren’t one of the favorites heading into the 2025 season, but they have a ton of talented players. Offensively, there’s a solid core that runs through Hubbard.
Even with Bryce Young stepping up, Hubbard’s contributions cannot be denied. He’s ran for 2,097 yards in his past two seasons. Even though he missed two games last season, he still finished with 1,195 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Knowing how important he is to the offense, it’s no surprise that he took offense to Wallace’s hit. Wallace is coming off his first year with the team where he recorded 64 total tackles in 13 games. The 2024 3rd round pick had a sack and fumble recovery as well.
Training camp isn’t about recording a highlight hit or tackle. It’s something that Matt LaFleur had to remind his guys of. The Green Bay Packers and Panthers are two entirely different teams, but the same topic has become a discussion.
When Hubbard was knocked to the ground, he responded accordingly. The fifth-year player got up swinging, according to Joe Person. Jaycee Horn was the one to separate the two as Hubbard took offense to Wallace’s hit.
Panthers Fans React to the Scuffle
The first person in Person’s responses said, “Love it!!! Camp season baby!” While everyone is out there trying to prove a point, each Panthers player needs to just be reminded that it shouldn’t come at the expense of another player. At the end of the day, it’s football, but this is only training camp.
“It’s not a family if there’s no fights,” this fan said. Another added, “T Wall is ready to ball!” Knowing that Hubbard wasn’t hurt on the play, it’s a great sign to see Wallace showing an aggressive side and being able to compete with the team’s RB1.
Someone commented, “This is what we love to see, players got that DAWG.” With Wallace only being in his second year, it seems that he has quite a promising upside. Most fans seemed to enjoy the fight, seeing it as an encouraging sign of things to come.
