Commanders vs Eagles ‘Thursday Night Football’ game pick and open thread

Welcome back to Thursday Night Football

The Washington Commanders are visiting the Philadelphia Eagles tonight on Thursday Night Football, setting up one another primetime NFC East clash. All Thursday night games kick off at 8:15 ET on Prime Video.

As always in our brave new world of expansive sports gambling, it is now easier to bet on games than to watch them. You can catch current odds on all NFL games for Week 8 here on FanDuel.

The 7-3 Commanders vs the 7-2 Eagles are expected to put on quite the show tonight. The 3.5-point spread on FanDuel barely favors the home team. The Eagles are coming off a five-game win streak—I know, I didn’t know they could get that high either—while the Commanders are coming off of a more familiar, disappointing loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The Commanders, behind the rookie phenom Jayden Daniels, are one of the hottest teams in the league right now. But they are still going to have to go through some growing pains as Daniels learns how to hold up to the grind that is a full NFL season. He has to face a defense that has given up four touchdowns in the last five games, on a short week, on the road, after a disappointing loss at home. That’s a lot of headwind for a rookie quarterback who is also drawing constant, national media attention.

That’s why I’m picking the Philadelphia Eagles to win tonight.

As always, use this space to talk about the action as it unfolds.

You know the drill.

This is now an open thread!
