The Dallas Cowboys fell to the Detroit Lions, 30-44 at Ford Field on Thursday night, in what was at the time a can’t lose game, if the Cowboys wanted to keep their postseason aspirations alive.
The Cowboys fall to 6-6-1, and after last night’s loss have just a 9% probability of making the playoffs, according to The Athletic’s playoff simulator.
One person who faced some serious criticism for his performance in the critical bout in Detroit was wide receiver, George Pickens, who has otherwise enjoyed easily the best year of his career since entering the league in 2022 as a second round pick for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The most pointed of which came from Richard Sherman, who claimed that Pickens seemed “uninterested” in playing football.
Pickens Goes In On Sherman After TNF Accusation
And in response, Pickens went in on the multiple-time All-Pro cornerback on Friday, via his Instagram story.
“This is a team game lmao”, Pickens posted on social media in a now deleted Instagram post, “I’m not the only one on the team. Stop becoming an analyst and talking about one player when he playin’ a team’s game. Lots of shh has to go right for explosive plays. And it’s funny cause I thought former players would know that such as p—y ass Richard Sherman, who btw ain’t shh without the Legion of Boom.”
“We all remember San Francisco, brother. Much love. Don’t speak on me unless you know the game of football. As a former player, not a d–kriding fan/analyst that act like double team is not a thing or certain bracket coverages don’t exist. Knowing you played ball, which show me you a leach, weirdo. Now Twitter eat this up. Clouted ah wrld.”
George Pickens In A Full Feud With George Pickens
Sherman had previously gone in on Pickens late on Thursday night in dissecting the result post-game.
“The big story here is George Pickens.” Sherman said. “George Pickens, throughout the game, especially late in the game, just looked uninterested in playing football. And that’s what you can’t have. If you’re going to be a superstar, if you want to be the best receiver in the National Football League, you can never be disengaged. It doesn’t matter if the game is going your way or not going your way. You can’t just disappear in these games, or else you’re not going to have an impact.
And in response to Pickens’ retort, the former Seahawk and 49er decided not to escalate things further, pointing to his own greater achievements relative to what the former Georgia product has managed so far in his young career.
“Lol kid hasnât done enough to merit a response from me.” Sherman responded on Friday afternoon. “I was working on my 3rd consecutive 1st team All pro and 2nd SB appearance at the same point in my career. Lol I made an ALL-Pro team and SB in SF but thatâs the fall off for me.”
