The Stanley Cup Playoffs aren’t the only form of playoff hockey, as the AHL is in the midst of a battle for the Calder Cup, and the Charlotte Checkers are trying to win it again. HC of the Checkers, Geordie Kinnear, joined Kyle Bailey to discuss the ongoing run for the cup.
Geordie started by looking at the ongoing playoff series between the Checkers and the Providence Bruins, with the Checkers leading the series 2-0 as Geordie said he wasn’t sure how this series was going to start after a long break, but getting 2 short-handed goals in game 1 got the team going, and now they are coming back to Charlotte with 2 wins under their belt.
The conversation with Geordie went on to discuss how this team has grown throughout the season, and how big the home ice advantage is inside Bojangles Coliseum.
