Hornets Reveal Spectrum Center Phase Two Renovation Plans

April 28, 2025 by WFNZ - Sports Radio

The Charlotte Hornets released new renderings and plans on Monday for Phase Two of renovations to Spectrum Center set to be completed this summer.

Hornets Sports & Entertainment Chief Venues Officer Donna Julian laid out the main tent poles of the next stage of the arena’s “reimagining”, which will focus on the lower bowl, the suite level and updates to the back-of-house operations.

The newly-named Belk Concourse will see an implementation of all new seats, which will be two inches wider, along with a 1,400 seat capacity increase in the arena’s lower bowl.

The Crown Jewels of the Belk Concourse will be the new “North & South Districts”, as the team will re-configure the former club area on either sideline for a more inclusive experience for patrons. All ticketed fans on the Belk Concourse will be able to enjoy both of the 360-degree bars, which will have open gathering areas with a view of the playing floor.

The big addition is two new 360 bars on the North and South side of the arena bowl (the old club areas) will be open for anyone on the main concourse. There will also be a new East Side Bar as well. All will have open concepts and allow you to view the floor from them. @hornets pic.twitter.com/5EXuJ47VfM

Julian believes that the new areas will allow for a more communal & unique experience to fans attending events at Spectrum Center.

The new renovations will also include “elevated food and beverage offerings” from arena partner Levy Restaurants, along with speculative partnerships with an eye toward more “local” offerings, according to Julian.

Spectrum Center will re-open in October in time to celebrate the building’s 20th Anniversary, with renovations being completed in time for the Hornets’ 25-26 season.
