After an impressive 2025 preseason performance, the Philadelphia Eagles could receive trade interest from teams for quarterback Tanner McKee. According to Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated, he expects the Eagles to get some type of interest for the quarterback, but at the right price. Originally selected as a sixth-round pick, the former Stanford made his season debut last year in the 2024 campaign finale against the Dallas Cowboys in relief of former quarterback Kenny Pickett. After throwing three passes for 54 yards and two touchdowns during that game, it was just a teaser for what came this preseason.
McKee has been working his way up the depth chart during the offseason, completing 20 of 25 pass attempts for 252 receiving yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions. It’s easy to see why the Eagles could consider trading McKee, being that he’s in his third year of his rookie contract, so he has a ton of value to possibly be a remarkable starting quarterback one day. McKee is good, but there is no way they would start him over Jalen Hurts, who has plenty of years ahead of him, so that should be out of the question for the team. While the quarterback will serve as a backup for his next team, he plays for if the Eagles decide to dangle him on the trade block, here are four possible fits for McKee.

Best Possible Destinations
New Orleans Saints
While Spencer Rattler looks like he’ll be the guy for the New Orleans Saints to move forward after his impressive performance, it’s better to stay safe while the team rebuilds. General Manager Mickey Loomis can’t afford to hold the roster back and avoid a complete rebuild, especially when Rattler put on a clinic to probably win the job over Tyler Shough. McKee has a chance to back up Rattler if the Saints feel like he can’t stay consistent, and you never know, the chemistry he had in Philadelphia with Kellen Moore as his former offensive coordinator, he could bring him back to coach him to lead his offense in New Orleans.
Indianapolis Colts
Meanwhile, the Indianapolis Colts have named their Week 1 regular-season starter, Daniel Jones, over Anthony Richardson. Unfortunately, Colts fans shouldn’t feel too content with the idea of Jones starting, given the history he has with the New York Giants. He easily folds under pressure, so they could do better in this area. McKee is the perfect go-getter who can bring out the best in Jonathan Taylor in the run and the wide receivers, Michael Pittman Jr., Josh Downs and Adonai Mitchell.
Dallas Cowboys
However, the unpredictable can happen in Dallas, as the Micah Parsons contract situation is an example of it. If they’re having a hard time getting a deal through for Parsons, they could do the same for Prescott if he doesn’t perform up to standards this upcoming season. Even though the Eagles will never trade to Dallas, it’s still possible they could send McKee at the right price, especially when Joe Milton hasn’t looked the best in the preseason.
Carolina Panthers
Just because the Carolina Panthers have plenty of momentum heading into the 2025 regular season, it doesn’t mean that Bryce Young will improve. If they don’t see much from Young for at least five games this campaign, they could bench him again. While Andy Dalton is just a bridge quarterback, McKee is the better option in this situation.
