Clowney signed a two-year, $20 million contract with the Panthers this offseason.
However, the team is going in the wrong direction and must rebuild. As one of their best assets, Clowney could provide an immediate need for teams who need a pass rusher.
Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer believes the Panthers could move Clowney before the November 5 trade deadline.
“With a lot of teams needing pass-rush help, and assuming his health improves over the next week, I’d throw Jadeveon Clowney in there with guys such as the Cleveland Browns’ Za’Darius Smith and the Green Bay Packers’ Preston Smith who could be moved,” Breer wrote.
Clowney has had a minimal impact for the Panthers this season, with just one sack and six total tackles in five games.
However, Clowney had 9.5 sacks and 43 tackles in 2023 with the Baltimore Ravens, so perhaps a new team will unleash more production.

The Buffalo Bills are a team that could be looking for an upgrade on the defensive line. Sports Illustrated’s Matt Verdame agrees, citing Buffalo as a team to keep an eye on when it comes to Clowney.
“While Buffalo already added a receiver in Amari Cooper, getting another pass rusher could make sense,” Verdame wrote. “Carolina has a good one in Clowney, who at 31 years old is set to be a free agent after this season.”
Mike Macdonald coached Clowney in Baltimore last season. Macdonald is now the head coach in Seattle. The Seahawks could use another pass rusher to bolster a suspect defensive line.
