Jaguars WR Makes Strong Statement About Trevor Lawrence

November 25, 2025 by Heavy

Jacksonville Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence is fresh off throwing three interceptions in a game, the most he’s thrown in a game since 2023. And yet, newly acquired wide receiver Jakobi Meyers told CBS Sports’ Aditi Kinkhabwala that “he could catch Trevor’s passes with his eyes closed, that they are that perfectly placed.”

So, a couple things, Dan. Jakobi Meyers told me he could catch Trevor’s passes with his eyes closed, that they are that perfectly placed. Trevor acknowledged to us that Liam’s scheme is more detailed and complex than any he’s been in. And that he perhaps has gotten hung up on…

This comes after Meyers caught his first touchdown as a member of the Jaguars. Regarding his three interceptions, Lawrence said that the offensive scheme by head coach Liam Coen “is more detailed and complex than any he’s been in.”

This information by Aditi Kinkhabwala came after ESPN’s Dan Orlovsky noted that Trevor Lawrence “has throws on tape that look like he is the best player at the position in football.” However, Orlovsky also added that “he has 3-4 throws a game that he looks like it’s a first start.”

Jakobi Meyers’ Fit With the Jaguars

Jakobi Meyers

The veteran wide receiver requested a trade out of Las Vegas prior to the season. His request was granted at the deadline, as he was shipped to Jacksonville for two draft picks. Before the trade, the Jaguars were thin at the position, as first-round receiver and cornerback Travis Hunter was ruled out for the remainder of the season. Additionally, Pro Bowl receiver Brian Thomas Jr. has also missed the last three games with an ankle injury.

In three games as a member of the Jacksonville Jaguars, Meyers has totaled 155 receiving yards and a touchdown on 12 receptions. His snaps have increased with each game as he played over 80% of the team’s offensive snaps in their win against the Cardinals. He’s been targeted six times in each of the last two games after being targeted only three times in his first game.

Meyers is set to be a free agent after the year. However, his encouraging comments regarding Trevor Lawrence could indicate a willingness to stay long-term in Jacksonville.

Trevor Lawrence’s First Year With Liam Coen

After spending the previous three years working under the offensive scheme of Doug Pederson, Lawrence is now learning a new offense for the third time in his young career. Coen was hired after helping Baker Mayfield to the best statistical season of his career. So far, the results haven’t reached that level with Lawrence.

Through 11 games, Lawrence has thrown for 14 touchdowns and 11 interceptions while having a 79.4 passer rating, the lowest since his rookie season. Perhaps his struggles can be explained by his comments mentioned earlier as it’s a complex scheme.  Despite the lackluster results by the Jaguars franchise QB, the team is in the middle of a successful season as they’re 7-4 and have won three of their last four games.

A division title is still a possibility, as they’re one game back from the Colts with two left to play against them. If Lawrence could tone down his mistakes and gain familiarity with the system, a division title could become more likely. There have been glimpses of improvement by Lawrence, particularly in this latest contest as he finished the game by going 6-of-9 for 90 yards and a touchdown.
