Lions Announce Historic Aidan Hutchinson News During Chiefs Game

October 13, 2025 by Heavy

The Detroit Lions took on the Kansas City Chiefs during Sunday Night Football on October 12, and going into the game, it was no secret this this was going to be rough. The Lions have a plethora of players out due to injury, which is the kiss of death in the NFL, while the Chiefs were almost completely healthy and on the field.

The Detroit Lions played their hearts out at Arrowhead Stadium, but in the end, it wasn’t enough to pull ahead. The final score was 30-17, with the Kansas City Chiefs taking it.

But, it wasn’t all doom and gloom on Sunday. During the game, some very good history was made for the Detroit Lions, so they have to feel happy about that. Besides, the Lions are now 4-2, so it could be worse. But, yes, the loss still stings.

Detroit Lions Announce News on Aidan Hutchinson

During the game, the Lions took to social media to announce that defensive end Aidan Hutchinson has “set a single-season franchise record by producing 1.0 sack in five-straight games.” It was absolutely critical to get Hutch back after his season-ending injury last year, and he hasn’t skipped a beat.

It was a big evening for wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown, too, who passed Johnnie Morton for the third-most receptions in franchise history.

On the other side, Mahomes made NFL history during the Sunday evening’s game against the Detroit Lions. With his six-yard pass to Chiefs star Xavier Worthy, Mahomes became the fastest player in NFL history to reach 300 career touchdown passes, including the postseason.

Congratulations are in order for both Hutchinson and St. Brown, plus Mahomes. Unfortunately, after the game, there was a scuffle between the Chiefs’ JuJu Smith-Schuster and the Lions’ Brian Branch. It appeared that Smith-Schuster extended his hand to Branch, who slapped him with an open hand, and the two went at it. Thankfully, it calmed down pretty quickly, and both teams seemed gracious after the game.

Aidan Hutchinson Talks the Detroit Lions

The Detroit Lions have been on fire this season, other than, of course, the Chiefs game that they just lost. Their 2025-26 season has been a positive one, so what’s the overall feeling with the team right now?

“This team is as strong as ever,” Hutchinson told Anne Erickson of Heavy Sports in an October 7 interview. “We’ve really stayed focused on the task at hand and been able to push through for some really great plays and wins. I’m excited to see where the rest of the season takes us. Everyone is feeling good but we know each week is a new week, and we’re getting ready for our next game.”

When asked who Hutchinson, a former Michigan wolverine football player, especially enjoys going up against in the NFL, he gave an answer that totally makes sense. “Divisional rivals are always an exciting game,” he said. “There’s a lot that rides on those games, so for me, I always make sure I’m prepared and ready to face each one. I always enjoy seeing my Michigan teammates on the NFL stage.”
