CHARLOTTE, N.C. (CHARLOTTE SPORTS LIVE) — Panthers reached a deal to keep center Austin Corbett with the team, the team announced Saturday. League sources confirm the deal is for one year.
The deal comes ahead of the 29-year-old becoming a free agent. On Monday, he would have been allowed to negotiate with other teams.
Along with the return of backup center Cade Mays, who was set to be a restricted free agent Friday, the Panthers have the middle of the depth chart filled.
Corbett has been with the team since 2022 after playing with the Los Angeles Rams (2019-21) and the Cleveland Browns (2018-2019). The former starting guard helped to build up the offensive line that moved Carolina to 5th in rush attempts and 11th in sacks allowed in one season.
This comes five months after Corbett’s torn bicep landed him on injured reserve in October. Corbett has since fully recovered and should be ready for a full offseason, officials say.
