The second week of the preseason is officially here, as the Panthers will face the Texans on Saturday afternoon in Houston, with the starters expected to play at least 3 series on both sides of the football. Later this week, Carolina will have a joint practice session before the preseason game, effectively ending Panthers training camp for 2025 as of today. Last week, the Panthers were kind enough to host the Mac & Bone Show live on location, and they extended their generosity once again this week, having the guys broadcast live ahead of today’s practice.
With the show live on location, that meant that the guests were on the show in a big way, literally, and figuratively, with multiple trench guys making their way by the set, along with some newcomers, and of course, JJ Jansen.
First up was new defensive line member, Bobby Brown, as they discussed his first camp with the team, how complete of a player he is, and playing alongside Derrick Brown.
After talking with Bobby Brown, the guys turned their attention to the offensive line, in the 7 AM hour, beginning with Ickey Ekwonu, as they talked about how the offensive line is a strength for this team and where he feels like his game has grown the most.
After chatting it up with Ickey, growing fan favorite, Robert Hunt joined the show, to talk about the excitement that he is seeing from the fanbase about this year’s team and how impressive Bryce was handling the ups and downs of last year.
Following the time with the offensive line, the guys welcomed in a friend of the show, and the iron man of the Carolina Panthers, JJ Jansen, as they discussed what happened with a flag on special teams on Friday, the roster turnover that special teams is experiencing, and his one bad snap back in 2010.
The guys had Bobby Brown on in the first hour, and in the middle of the 8 AM hour, they had Derrick Brown on, to complete to duo up front for the Panthers, as Derrick talked about his return to the field this year, what last year was like as he rehabbed his injury and what it’s like being a father of four.
In the final hour of the show, the guys stayed on the defensive side of the football, beginning with Tre’von Moehrig, who joined the team this off-season, after a successful stint with the Raiders, and he talked about how he turns it on in between the lines on Sunday, why he chose Carolina as his destination this offseason and his thoughts on this year’s defense.
Lastly, the guys are joined by second-year linebacker, Trevin Wallace, to talk about being thrust into the fire last season, the addition of the big guys in front of him on the defensive line, and if he is into Southern traditions like Xavier Legette is.
You can listen to the Mac & Bone Show (Charlotte’s #1 morning show), every weekday from 6-10 AM on Sports Radio 92.7 WFNZ and the WFNZ app.
