NBA Defends Controversial Foul Call on Warriors’ Moses Moody

December 19, 2025 by Heavy

The NBA has confirmed that the referees made the right call on Moses Moody late in the Golden State Warriors‘ loss to the Phoenix Suns. Moody was called for a personal foul with 0.4 seconds left, with Jordan Goodwin splitting his free throws to give the Suns the 99-98 win.

According to the NBA L2M report, the foul committed by Moody was a correct call. The Warriors forward made marginal contact on Goodwin’s head, neck and arm. Moody did make contact with the ball first, but there was enough contact to make the call valid and correct.

Golden State did a good job of making Devin Booker pass the ball to Dillon Brooks with less than five seconds left. Brooks had no choice but to shoot a contested 3-point attempt that missed the rim.

However, Moody failed to box out Goodwin and made contact with him, which eventually led to the game-winning free throw. The Warriors dropped to 13-15 for the season, losing their third game in a row and putting them ninth in the West standings.

Steve Kerr Frustrated With Refs’ Call

In his postgame press conference, Steve Kerr was disappointed that the referees called the foul on Moses Moody. Kerr would have wanted the officials to give the Golden State Warriors a proper chance of winning the game in overtime.

“It’s hard to believe that the game was decided on that call, you know, on an air ball that hits the side of the backboard, and guys behind the bench told me that Moses got all ball. … So disappointing that we didn’t get to go to overtime because I thought our guys executed and did a great job in the last few minutes of giving ourselves a chance,” Kerr said, via NBC Sports Bay Area.

While Kerr had a valid point, the Warriors had 20 turnovers in the game. They could have taken care of the ball and not let the game be decided by the referees. They outrebounded the Suns, but they failed to box out in the final play of the contest.

Steph Curry Urged To Leave Warriors

At 37 years old, Steph Curry is still the best player for the Warriors and among the best in the league. Curry’s shooting remains a valuable asset in Golden State’s offense, but the team continues to make mistakes and is still very inconsistent.

Pierre Anderson of the Numbers on the Board podcast urged Curry to leave the Warriors and demand a trade.

“We’re watching Stephen Curry not be able to get wins, and he’s still playing at that level, so yeah, I’m frustrated and mad. I’m swiping left on the whole team. Steph, request a trade, do some power move,” Anderson said, via the Sporting News.

Curry has a year left on his contract after this season. He’s not known for making demands to the Warriors and trusting the franchise to make the tough decisions.

There are still plenty of games left in the season, but it seems like Golden State will need to make some moves before the trade deadline.
