Los Angeles Rams coach Sean McVay remains optimistic.
Why not?
Sure, the Rams suffered what they considered to be their worst upset loss this season, but McVay on Monday did not sound concerned about carry-over issues lingering with the NFC West co-leaders.
“I think the best thing is our players and coaches are more connected,” McVay said Monday, as reported by The Associated Press. “There’s an ownership, there’s an accountability and there’s a security to acknowledge where we can improve and move forward, and that starts with us as coaches.”
Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford, a leading candidate for NFL MVP, turned the ball over three times and the defense struggled to slow down the Panthers’ running game during the 31-28 loss to the Carolina Panthers, who entered Sunday as double-digit underdogs at Bank of America Stadium.
The Panthers compiled 164 rushing yards, the second-highest total the defense has yielded this season.
“Just some leaky yards, and it was a collective effort,” McVay said, noting the paucity of explosive runs by Carolina. “They made some plays on those critical downs.”
Despite the loss, BetOnline Sportsbook tabbed the Rams (+450) with the top Super Bowl LX odds.
McVay hopes the Rams (9-3) do not suffer from a Panthers hangover.
Beginning Sunday, the Rams begin a stretch of playing three games in 12 days.
