We’re counting down the days until the Panthers kick off the 2024 season.

We’re officially 38 days away from the Carolina Panthers kicking off the 2024 NFL season against the New Orleans Saints. It will be their second consecutive road opener. Now it’s time for our annual roster countdown to highlight the players on the Panthers’ roster. Today, we’re taking a closer look at the player to who wears the No. 38 jersey — OLB Amare Barno.

Barno, who had worn the No. 90 jersey thus far in his career, announced his change to the No. 38 jersey earlier this spring. He is currently being held out of training camp practices on the Active/Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list while recovering from an ACL tear that he suffered last season during the Panthers game against the Green Bay Packers.

He was one of Matt Rhule’s class of hyper athletic prospects, but carries the distinction of having attended Virginia Tech instead of any of the institutions where Rhule coached. He has seen limited action in his two NFL seasons, appearing in 24 games but only starting one.

The 2024 season will likely be a make or break season for the former sixth round pick. The Panthers obscene lack of depth at pass rusher will give him plenty of opportunities to make his case.

How about it Panthers fans, what are you hoping for or expecting out of Barno this season? Scroll on down to the comments and share your thoughts with us!
