We’re counting down the days until the Panthers kick off the 2024 season.
We’re officially 85 days away from the Carolina Panthers kicking off the 2024 NFL season against the New Orleans Saints. It will be their second consecutive road opener. Now it’s time for our annual roster countdown to highlight the players on the Panthers’ roster. Today, we’re taking a closer look at No. 85 — tight end Ja’Tavion Sanders.
The Carolina Panthers started the third day of the 2024 NFL Draft by selecting a player many mock drafts had them taking a round or two earlier: Texas tight end Ja’Tavion Sanders. Sanders was one of the many weapons on the prolific Texas offense, often overshadowed by fellow Panther Jonathon Brooks, new Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy, and new Colts wide receiver Adonai Mitchell. Still, Sanders made the most of his opportunities at Texas, earning him enough buzz to end up a top three tight end in the 2024 draft class according to some experts. Sanders is not known as a top tier blocker, but is an athletic specimen that can threaten the middle of the field. Think of him as the opposite of Tommy Tremble in that regard. Those two should make quite a tandem this season. You can read an article where I broke down Sanders’ usage at Texas and compared it to how Panthers head coach Dave Canales has used tight ends in the past by clicking here.
