The Panthers signed a promising, young cornerback in Akayleb Evans.

The Carolina Panthers front office is busy throughout the season with transactions, roster moves, and injury updates. Here’s what’s happening at Mint Street this week.

Injury Updates

Transactions

Claimed CB Akayleb Evans off waivers. Evans was a 2022 fourth round pick by the Minnesota Vikings and had a promising start to his career. In his first two seasons he appeared in 25 games with 17 starts, amassing 88 tackles, nine passes defended, four forced fumbles, and one interception. But this year he was moved to a special teams role after Minnesota signed veterans Stephon Gilmore and Shaquill Griffin.

Signed WR Sam Pinckney to the practice squad. The Panthers originally signed the 6-foot-4, 220-pound receiver to the practice squad as an undrafted rookie back in September. His first stint in Carolina only lasted a couple of days before he was released, but he must have shown enough to get a second shot.

Waived OLB Charles Harris. The eight-year veteran played well for the Panthers this year, but he was never part of the team’s rebuild plans. The return of DJ Wonnum made Harris expendable in the brutal business of professional football.
