CHARLOTTE (CAROLINA SPORTS LIVE) — Two of the Panthers’ starting five offensive linemen will be out for a minimum of four games after being placed on injured reserve.
On Monday, head coach Dave Canales said center Austin Corbett re-injured the MCL in his left knee, and guard Robert Hunt has a torn left bicep, who left Sunday’s loss in a sling.
In the last game of the 2022 season, Corbett tore his left ACL and hurt his MCL in 2023. He’ll be replaced by Cade Mays, who lost the starting job to Corbett in the offseason. Mays also started for Corbett in eight of the Panthers’ final nine games last season.
Hunt, a Pro Bowler in his first season in Carolina in 2024, will be replaced by Chandler Zavala.
The Panthers are confident in anyone who needs to start in the offensive trenches. Since Canales and GM Dan Morgan took over, they’ve emphasized continuity on the O-line. The top nine linemen in terms of snaps played from the 2024 season are on the roster in 2025.
The Panthers’ next game is their home opener against NFC South rival Atlanta Falcons at 1 p.m.
