Fans are mixed on which prospects they want taken off of Carolina’s board

The Carolina Panthers have their work cut out for them to sell their first round draft pick to the fanbase. The team has been linked to a variety of prospects, but almost every position group that the team has been linked to seems to have some opposition from fans.

This week we asked what position group you would want the team to avoid with the 8th overall pick and the results we got were thoroughly mixed.

The largest opposition came, unsurprisingly, to the idea of taking a wide receiver at No. 8. Tetairoa McMillan is widely hailed as the best receiver in this draft class but very few expect him to be a top receiver in the league. In fact, most analysts shy away from calling him a guaranteed starter. That’s a hard sell in the top ten.

Tight end has the next highest opposition, which probably says more about how people feel about the Panthers’ defense that it does about Tyler Warren’s talent.

The good news for Panthers fans is that the national Pick the Top 5 poll has the best player at each position we polled, Abdul Carter aside, falling to at least the 6th overall pick.

That means there will be plenty of talented players left for the Panthers to disappoint their fans with. If you want to bet on just how our fellow fans are going to be disappointed then head on over to FanDuel, the official sportsbook partner of SB Nation.
